Metallurgical Plant Database Management and Reporting

Setting up a relational database system for metallurgical accounting requires the following

bulletThe ability to merge information from different time periods through spreadsheet templates
bulletA robust data model
bulletThe client (YOU) manages the metallurgical formula's in a small number of Excel templates
bulletFlexible exporting of results to a spreadsheet for daily, weekly, monthly and YTD reporting

What you need is Grind-FX, our metallurgical/plant solution. Here is an example of how Grind-FX works

Reporting

Following is a example of the reporting form from our metallurgical system

You select a date, choose a template, press a button    Click picture to enlarge

The results appear in a copy of an Excel template

Our software can export data in many different ways (horizontally, vertically and by shift, day, week, month, year). Generally the data is stored in a data worksheet and used in the calculation part of the spreadsheets by referring to the appropriate data cells or calculated totals.

Data Entry

Setting up data entry for metallurgy and plants is always tricky.  Initially you will want to store volumes and grades from all the obvious parts of the mill.  Then you run into teething problems in the mill and decide you need a new suite of samples for your reporting and balancing. In Grind-FX, data points definitions are stored in tables which make new points easier to set up. For example

A custom data entry form looks like this

and the data-entry definition for that form looks like this

Custom Extensions

Every mill has its own special requirements and Grind-FX has been set up so that the custom Access solutions can be integrated into your package. Following is sample of a rail system built into Grind-FX.

Are you struggling under the weight of many monthly and daily spreadsheets that 'help' you with your mill/plant reporting.  If so you probably have a very good idea of what you want but would be reluctant to transfer to an off the shelf system that forces you to do things differently.  Grind-FX, our Microsoft Access and Excel solution for metallurgy will get you to a multi-user platform centered around a flexible reporting setup (Excel) that you control and will be familiar with.
